The climate change

Our Relationship with mother earth is an important one. Depending on which statistics you choose to believe our homes cause between 25% – 35% of carbon emissions. If we make small changes in our day to day living we can make a real difference to climate change. I am sure you have read about energy saving light bulbs and know that they are much more efficient; but, did you know that by dusting your light bulbs and fittings they can work better too? Also placing mirrors to reflect the light back into the room helps the problem and this way you get to look at yourself more often too. The easiest way to cut back on electricity though, is to simply turn off the lights when you’re not in the room! Keep your refrigerator well stocked with beer (always a good thing), the cold cans will help keep it cool saving the refrigerator from working overtime. Also ensure that the coil on the back is kept clean. Your freezer will work without too much problem if you keep it full, mine is full of a variety of vegetables so it causes no problems, but if you simply don’t have the products in it then fill it with old newspaper it works just the same. Use the microwave more instead of the oven when cooking dinner. I read the other day that if everyone who was going to cook a baked potato in the oven used a microwave instead we (based on a study in the UK) could do without one power station. This is much better for the health of the earth and much easier for us when making dinner and trying to study at the same time!
